I am considering the purchase of a new Specialized Allez Comp PRo road bike. They are manufacturing the frame out of an E5 aluminum alloy from Columbus. Does anyone have any thoughts as to its ride quality compared to a steel frame?
No experience w/ the Allez ALU frame, but...Cima Coppi

You can bet it will be a stiff frame. The E5 ALU frame is made using a typical oversized tubeset. The ALU Allez frames have a reputation of being stiff, so if you are a small rider, you might find it uncomforable on long rides, and esp. on rough roads. However, the stiffness of the frame is also very much controlled by the geometry and any unique designs the builder puts into it, along with the materials used.

That said, this frame will still be much stiffer than most steel frames on the market.
