I think Dave G. said it best: The only bad bike is someone else's!
Here are the results of how satisfied those who responded to last week's survey are with their bike components. The ratings are presented as a percentage of complete satisfaction:
1. Frame: 99.6%
2. Seatpost: 96.7%
3. Stem: 94.7%
4. Bar: 94.4%
5. Headset: 94.1%
6. Drivetrain Group: 93.8%
7. Fork: 93.2%
8. Pedals: 92.9%
9. Tires: 92.8%
10. Saddle: 87.2%
11. Wheelset: 85.2%
It's kind of interesting that wheelsets are clearly the component that we're most unsure about. My guess is that there's still a lot of mystery associated with wheels, and we're always wondering if something we can't afford would make a substantial difference!

I also think that the frame is what we fall in love with when we buy a bike (in most cases), so we're likely to get something that matches our desires from the start; seatposts, stems, and bars are beyond the ability of most of us to be dissatisfied with (I would have no idea if my stem was light or heavy if I didn't have the spec, and I'm not so sure I'd recognize stiffness or lack thereof in a modern high-end stem); forks, pedals, tires, and wheels are categories where we know we have a lot of very different choices, so we're always thinking that the grass may be greener on the other side. And there just HAS to be a better saddle out there!
