just curious as to how many people shave their legs in the off season? or do you guys let the hair grow out when not on the road in the winter??

I will let mine go here in a few weeks and let 'er grow. So in the early spring it's more of a "mental thing " for me to start shaving again. It's kind of like saying to myself that it's time to start the season anew.

I hate wearing bike shorts with hairy legs, feels weird, and the hair gets grabbed by the grip strips.
As well, i find its easier to keep legs clean after roller/trainer workouts (y'know, zits etc..?).
Get some strange looks at the gym, but the guys who look aghast generally have shaved chests etc.
I'm still getting massages, still shaving. Besides there is noMB1

After shaving everything as a bodybuilder, I now dont shave in any season!!!!!! Besides I would go from 11mph to 11.5 mph, not worth it!

i'll shave through the winter--but, i'm only shaving 'em once per week through "the season", meaning one of my group rides gets the fresh cut and the other gets the porcupine treatment (but--i don't care!). schedule will not change. it's taken 8 months already for my skin to become accustomed to shaving.

other thing to mention--i wear shorts through the winter, on nights and weekends, when not at work. until it's down to freezing during the day, and all bets are off. legs don't seem to get cold, even when it's necessary to wear fleece and a windbreaker up top.
It'll DEFINITELY make you faster ;-) (nm)grzy

The one problem with shaving in the colder season is what it feels like when your cold bluejeans touch your bare skin. Without the fur lining, it can send you into serious shivers! Even with some insulated undies it still feels colder than with hair. Most likely it's just a psychological thing...

Also shaving with goosebumps on your legs causes extra cuts. OK that was two problems.
