i don't mean to be offensive, but was wondering if anyone dares to ride an American bicycle to that place..

Even if there were no bombs dropping and no Taliban forbidding bicycles or no land mines to run over...nobody in Afghanistan could afford a Trek. It would take the annual per capita income of a few dozen Afgani's to buy one Trek...
I recall a story about a round-the-world rider . . .DCW

who was murdered once he got into Afghanistan. I can't recall his nationality or his bike label, but I think he was trying to ride a relatively peaceful route and ran into some bandits. This was in 1990s. Of course the same thing could happen in many places of the U.S.
