Jackets? Worth the $$$?(5 posts)

Jackets? Worth the $$$?xjeffx

There's this really great Pearl Izumi jacket at the LBS. It's gray with detachable sleeves and folds away into itself for when it gets warmer. Questions. Is it worth the money ($109)? Can I get it cheaper? Can I use it for more than just riding? I need a jacket and that's The ONE.

Help.

That sounds like the one I have. Bought it last year. It'a great all-season jacket, and I really like the zip-away sleeves. Great for running too!!! Makes a great shell as well when the weather gets cooler!

I bought the same jacket (Pearl Izumi) two years ago, from Sierra Trading Post, for less than $70.00 (year-end clearance). It's a nice cool weather jacket, plus it makes a great shell over a woolie for colder riding. To tell you the truth, I have never yet zipped off the sleeves. It's either jacket on, or I'm too warm, so take it off. But, this was when I was doing off-road riding exclusively. I may find now that I'm doing the road thing as well, that a vest-like garment may be a welcome addition to my cycling wardrobe.
