Buying Campy in Italy(2 posts)

Buying Campy in Italytanman

I'm going on my honeymoon to Rome and Florence, Italy in November.

I'm thinking about buying a Campy Daytona or Chorus grouppo while there. Can anyone recommend any bike shops in Rome or Florence?

What kinds of savings should I expect there, or should I just stick to buying domestically? Any details on VAT, import taxes, etc. would also be greatly appreciated. Thank you.

Of all the shops I've been to (including several in Florence) components weren't much cheaper if at all, esp when you add in VAT or customs... add to that the potential for no warranty, or at least a major PITA. I've taken several trips all over Italy during the past 5 years or so, and have never found great deals on components. Most shops have a limited stock and much of it is older stuff. OTOH clothes can be had for cheap in Italy.
