Scuffed Hood cover question.....(3 posts)

Scuffed Hood cover question.....Len J
Oct 5, 2001 3:30 AM
In my crash last week, I tore up the black rubber cover on my left Dura/ace brake lever. Can this be easily replaced? Or am I stuck replacing the whole lever?

Any interim fixes, its roughed up with a small tear.

Thanks in advance.

Similar thing happened to my Ultegras ... plus the cap, which broke. LBS had replacement parts for both.

I saw a guy that had kinda welded a tear together, I think he used a soldering iron. I personally wouldn't mess with that. a new hood shouldnt cost more than ten bucks otherwise use some electrical tape for a temp fix.
if the tear isnt too bad, just leave the rough spot, it will give it some character; you know how we like to brag about the different scars on our legs that came from a story that starts out "This is no $hit... we were mashin at about 28mph..." but in reality the scars on our legs are just a visual reminder of the learning curve involved with shaving...

sorry about that last tangent... just had a thought and went with it...
