here are a few quotes that keep me going. not from a spam email or anything, these are the ones that struck me over the years and i've hand-picked to post at home and work as reminders of my path. i've not credited the speakers, some of which are easily guessed, and most of which are old, dead guys. there may be some spelling/tying errors, as i've just keyed this in fer ya. the most important one is:

Just put your head down and keep pedaling.

The others:

Reason has to be strengthened by suffering, and suffering opens the eyes of understanding.

Strength does not come from physical capacity. It comes from an indomitable will.

Sweat more in training. Bleed less in battle.

Pain is weakness leaving the body.

It's not the size of the dog in the fight, but the size of the fight in the dog.

A ship in harbor is safe. But that's not what ships are built for.

He who knows others is wise. He who knows himself is enlightened.

True strength is the flower of wisdom, but its seed is action.

It does not matter how slowly you go as long as you do not stop.

Focus all your energy to one point.

The purpose of any athletic endeavor is to challenge human limits both on and off the playing field.

Most people run a race to see who is the fastest. I run a race to see who has the most guts.

The vision of a champion is someone who is bent over, drenched in sweat, at the point of exhaustion when no one else is watching.

The man who can drive himself farther once the effort gets painful is the man who will win.

I make my weaknesses my strengths and my strengths stronger.

Fear is the mind killer.

The man that conquers himself is superior to the one who conquers a thousand men in battle.

Try not! Do, or do not! There is no try.

The Spartans do not enquire how many the enemy are, but where they are.

It is a good day to die.

Focus on your one purpose.

He who has a why to live can bear almost any how.

Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

After victory, tighten your helmet cords!

Fast as the wind, quiet as the forest, aggressive as fire, and immovable as a mountain.

I like Yoda's "There is no try" a lot.

Maybe I'll print the list and have my crew yell them to me over the P.A. at mile 450 in the hot desert. I won't be able to remember much, as my I.Q. at the time is inversely related to fatigue. That thought of "keep riding" will be about all I can manage, I imagine.

I'll also just keep in mind that lots of other people have done this. Why not me, too?

Thanks. You are an inspiration, as always.

Love it! Thanks! nmLen J

So what? Keep on sucking until you do succeed.

There is also a dirty version that we will ignore here.
Consider it ignored. See? Restraint. nmSpinchick
