I don't know if any of ya'll ever frequent the forums at bicycling.com, but they are undergoing an "interesting" transformation. The road cycling forum went down last week and was combined with the mountain bike forum this week. Talk about a catfight! It's pretty entertaining, but unfortunately the road forum there seems to have gone kaput. So far, there has been no explanation of the changes from the forum administrators.
I've been looking for it too. (nm)Roxy

Back when Bicycling used to be good, it's forums used to be good, too. Then the mag changed, and so did their boards. They were down for like 3-6 months. Everyone that knew ANYTHING left. I went back a few times after that, but it was essentially useless, IMHO.

This kind of nay-saying is something that irks me about THIS board and frankly I never see the negativity, personal attacks, or trolls on bicycling.com that I see here. In addition, I think there is plenty of knowledge but more than that, a very nice supportive community.

While I think there is probably more mechanically knowledge here, I find real value both places, and visit both often.

I just couldn't get interested in it after the long hiatus. "Old friends" weren't there anymore and most info was of the same level as the mag-for the attention-defecit mindset mostly.

Although I prefer RBR, I must say that the crowd at bicycling.com is generally more polite. You rarely see the sort of flaming that comes and goes around here. Sometimes I enjoy the rowdy discussions here, but I get tired of the personal attacks. I get the impression that many of their regular posters are newbies and people who don't ride a lot of miles, but that's OK. There are some very helpful people at bicycling.com, particularly with mechanical questions. They also don't seem to have as much of the elitism that you sometimes run into at other boards, which is also something I like about RBR.
bicycling.com forums are not strictly road forumnsEmpirion75

Its wierd cause everyone thinks the forumn is strictly road bike specific. No where on the sight does it say roadies only. It says bicycling.
