I recently bought a new rear wheel for my hybrid, and I noticed there's no dust cover on my hub. Can I ride without one, or will it ruin my hub? My hub is a shimano C201. Thanks

Some Shimano hubs have a neoprene "boot" over the left side of rear hubs and some don't. I don't know for sure, but I suspect that your C201 hub might be a don't.

Generally, Shimano does a pretty good job with cosmetics. If your hub has a bunch of unfinished-looking spacers and lock nuts sticking out, you're probably missing the neoprene boot. If, however, your hub has a decently finished looking metal cover over the bearings, I wouldn't worry about it.
