What is to service on a cartridge type BB? I had it out about a year ago greased the frame threads, put grease on the outside of the casing and reinstalled. Am I missing something? Shimano Ultegra BB. Not experiencing any problems with it just thinking what might need done before a week long tour.

You're fine! If it ain't broke....

Actually this isn't true - it can loosen on you. About the only thing you could do is pull it and retorque BOTH cups with a torque wrench. If you're running a ti BB shell think about adding teflon tape. the cartrideg itself should be fine - it's just the installation that you need to check.

The bearings themselves likely need no maintenance, or don't accept any. Some people pry out the seals and work grease in with a toothpick, but . . . However, you should remove it, clean the threads, re-grease, and retorque on some regular schedule (annually is my recommendation). Otherwise you run the risk of having the thing freeze in the frame.
