|Did my first ride...in the rain as well. My shoulder and neck hurt. I mainly rode in the drops. Is there something wrong?|

|You said it was your first ride, so this sounds completely normal. The human head weighs a lot, and road biking forces you to hold it at a slightly different angle. Neck and shoulder fatigue is common, and gets better.
You also mentioned that you were riding mostly in the drops, which is certainly even more likely to fatigue your neck and shoulders. Give yourself some slack and spend some time on the hoods.

|Riding in the drops is an acquired skill - it's really only at high speeds or in windy conditions that the drops are necessary. The musculature required to ride at length in the drops will take years to develop. You can comfortably ride on the bar-tops or hoods for the next year at least.|| |
