Bike Computer with Light?(5 posts)

Bike Computer with Light?mk_42

I saw a message below about riding at night but wanted to go a different way. Does anybody know of any computers with a light? A backlight, or an led just so you could read it.

Every bike shop sells a ton of lamps and blinkies (so they do know that people ride at night) but no lighted display computers. I spent a lot of time about a year ago looking for one but didn't find any.

Tips appreciated.

Performance used to sell a VDO computer under their private label that was lighted, and I think there's a lighted Vetta as well. The Campagnolo ErgoBrain 10 also has a light.

There are also small "add-on" lights that you can mount on your handlebars that will illuminate any brand of computer. I can't recommend them though, as they weren't bright enough for my (admittedly failing) eyesight.

Another option - wear a helmet headlamp. Every time you look at your computer, the headlamp will illuminate it.

... The AT-100 altimeter model does. Don't know about the others. I try not to use the feature as it will run down a battery faster than normal.

...and want to spend the bucks, the Ergobrain 10 has a backlight. Of course, it's a lot to spend just for a backlight!
