I did my first century. It started in Tiverton, R.I. and was called the flatest century in the east (there really were plenty of hills). My training involved a 25 mile ride once a week. And I got 5 hours of sleep after a long night of drinking in Newport (I know..not too bright of me). Anyway, it took 7 hours to complete. I took 3 rest stops every 25 miles for about 5 minutes. Overall I had a great time and I can't wait to do it again. And what a feeling of satisfaction there is when you finally cross that line!! It feels great!

Damn. I've been inspired. If you can do one with a training schedule like that I think I may be able to do one. The Flatest Century in the East, eh? Sounds nice. :) Perhaps I'll be in it next year.

Congrats!

Congrats ! Great time wasn't it !! very well organized and it was so great to see so many bikes ! I to can' wait until next year and was so pleased with NBW that I plan on joining, 15$ does not seem like a lot to support such a good club. The only parts of the ride that were not so great were New Bedford, lots of traffic and the constant head wind on the way home, oh well you can't have everything. Congratulations again !
Congratulations.....Len J

and welcome to the club. I am always amazed at how good I feel to accomplish a goal.

I remember my first 21 years ago, like it was yesterday. Seemed epic then, like I'd never finish. It wasn't organized, but really sort of a spur of the moment thing. Bonked hard. Wrong gearing. Dehydrated. Pure misery, but such a sense of accomplishment.

Treasure the moment.

Congrats! I agree that it was hilly that I expected to. My first too & I was hoping for a ride along the beach type flat, which it wasn't. It was scenic for the most part & well organized. It's nice to hear for others who were there. Maybe we'll see you next year.

There is something about 100 miles in a day that is a magic moment - like you're up to the challenge. Congradulations, you've passed a cycling rubicon!
