i started doing some on the bike strength work outs. the one workout calls for you to pedal up hill at 45 to 55 rpm. will this added stress on the drivetrain damage the drivetrain?
today when i did this i heard noise coming from the bike that i never heard before.

|for tightness. Pedaling with more oomph like this can cause creaks that you didn't hear before.
You might need to put a bit of grease on the binder in the stem if you have an older non-threadless system.
don't grease the axle if you take the cranks off though, just clean and reattach them.
Could be the BB also.

|This is what drivetrains do. Everyone rides like this at some point, whether they choose to or not. The pros were going slower than that in the race in San Francisco.
Unless your drivetrain is made of plastic, don't worry about it.
