|Does anyone have any suggestions or advice for knee pain. I am a MTB'er who has become hooked on Road riding. The training advantages are awesome. I have recently developed some minor knee pain in the front and down the outside of my shin on my 1 knee. Is it OK to continue riding. should I rest until the pain subsides. I never had real problems until I starting putting in heavy road miles. I climb lots of hills. Advice?
I have purchased a new Olmo and have been experimenting with seat height and position. I think I have it set up properly now.

|I got it from cycling. Overdeveloped my outer quad which pulled knee cap off track. Take a week off, ice, and ibuprofen. If it's still not better, go see an ortho. Don't waste any time. Could also be patella tendonitis which I have now!!!!

|There are many possible causes. I went throught this recently and did all the appropriate seat height and fore/aft changes (one at a time slowly). They did not work. Then I did two things that worked for knee pain in the same area: I adjusted my cleats to allow less float of my heel toward the bike on the leg with the pain, and I put an orthotics in my shoes to keep my feet from flattening as much as they were on the down stroke. Worked! In the process of working through the problem I also became used to a much higher cadence which I believe is a good thing anyway. Get the book, Bicycle Medicine, it helped a lot.|
