The press releases on the Spinergy Xaeros look great (of course, press releases always do). Can anyone out there help me with some real life experience with this wheelset? Do they perform like as an aero wheel? Do they remain true? Is the lighter weight reflected in the performance? Are they as comfy (shock dampening) as the press releases lead one to believe?

Check the archives to confirm, but I have heard alot of complaints about this set of wheels. Hubs going bad in a few hundred miles, really bad customer service from Spinenergy, etc...

I'm dissapointed the review section has never had info on these. As far as performance goes, they are excellent. Nice aero qualities, light for a semi-aero wheel, nice absorption with PBO spokes, they spin up relatively easy, feel stiff when putting the hammer down, remained true. However, I wish I could say more about hub relaibility. The free hub blew out at 2,000 miles, the shop sent it to Spingery becuase it's under warranty and received them back in 3 weeks. They have performed well all summer after the repair so I sum it up to quality control probelms resolved at warranty. So, you are taking your chances with these. I'm sure you are seeing some deals. Right now, you can also find deals on Ksyrium wheels for about the same price, I just bought a pair so I could have one wheelset for everything. If you have to have these, buy them from a shop who can advocate warranty issues on your behalf. I would not want to resolve problems with Spinergy on my own. I'm 6ft 180. Maybe lighter riders are ok?

Good luck
