|Hey, This sunday is going to be my first criterium. The course is like 3.2 miles long and i think the junors do 7 laps for a total of 22.3 miles. Ive never done a race/criterium so can u guys tell me what to expect. 22.3 miles is pretty short and im going to be in junors mixed in with Woman 4. How fast do u think the pace is gunna be? Since its my first race do you think i should stick in the middle or the back? i was afraid if i was in the back i wouldnt be able to make it to the front because lack of room or something, and i heard u guys say its good to sprint a lil form the beggining to get out in front so u dont have to worry about passing? well just wondering if ANYONE has any tips itd be appre3ciated thanks alot!

|If this is your first race, take it easy and enjoy!!! just concentrate on finishing with the pack and you'll feel great. Unless you are very comfortable with your bike handling skills during pack sprints, I would avoid them for now, since junior and cat5-4 crits are notorious for having massive crashes at the finish line. Other may disagree but I say, just stay away from the danger and enjoy your first race... there will be many more opportunities to win later on... cheers and Good luck. Nestor|

|I would try to stay in the first 30% if I was you. Why not try and give yourself a chance?|| |
