... ok, it's an old concept bike (Specialized used to do kick arse concepts too) that was based on a dubious design... but don'tya just love the "out of the box", "clean sheet of paper" approach to concept bikes???

Wonder if we'll see anything like this at Interbike.. despite the UCI's view on such...?

Be the bike.

I bet the ride is pretty unstable. Only 1/2 the (whatever) force to keep the bike upright (remember the school science "experiments" with the bike wheel and swivel chair??) and huge area to catch crosswinds. Plus any little rock or stick would play havoc on those little front wheels... but if those are rollerblade wheels- no mo' flats! Isn't it funny that the drivetrains have yet to be improved upon? You would have thought somebody could come up with a shaft-drive or anything else by now. Gotta give 'em credit for thinking though.

Shaft drive is very inneficient compared to chain drive.gRUMP

The chain is extremely efficient. And with a shaft, how would you change gears? Have a stick shift and a tranny??

I was reading Bicycling Magazine from 1994 today and saw this exact bike. Ugly! (obviously)
