|$3 marketplace charge||buzzkill|

|This may or may not apply to this site. Maybe Gregg can reply. In most cases, when the economy goes into recession, reguardless of the reason, big business starts to tighten its belt. The marketing departments are usually hit first and this means less advertising. Anybody ever wonder where websites like roadbikereview.com get their funding to continue? Its mostly and often exclusively advertising. Without a $3 charge we might lose this site completely. Realistically $3 is not asking a lot. Hope that relieves some tension.|

|...people tend to think that we are "greedy" now that we are charging for the marketplace. This just isn't the case, I will state it again, advertising alone does not bring in enough resources to sustain this site. We would love to leave it as a free resource, if we could.
I also feel that for the $3, there are many improvements over the old system. Among these improvements are:
-a more stable system (no more missing archives, incorrect links)
-less abuse and duplicate postings
-a more secure environment in which to transact
Along with these features comes a price, including:
-need for Credit Card (we are researching a paypal option)
-limited to US address (this will be changed soon)
Often times when people complain about the new site, I know they are really referring to the new Classifieds. To them I say, "Fine, we have to charge and if you don't like it, we can't stop you from using other sites. BUT, we hope you understand why we are charging and that you will continue to use our site for the best Roadbike product reviews available on the internet."
Also, for obvious reasons, we cannot allow people to post want ads in the message board forums.
Thanks, as always, for your support.

|I got the ad submitted screen and then nothing. I tried to call Nexxtag and no answer, I emailed them and no answer.
On top of all that it took me 10 minutes to post the ad due to all the info they now want and how SLOOOOOOOW the site is.
My ad has still not shown up, I'll probably still be charged though.
They only have 67 bikes listed in 4 or 5 days??? SAD.

Gotta agree with this.
3 is still a heck of a lot cheaper than ebay or yahoo or even a classified ad. which probably doesn't have the readership that this place does.
Not to mention the others like ebay also take a % out of your final price too.

|I've had good results using this site in the past.
While I agree that $3 is pretty cheap to sell a bike, it can be pretty steep to list several inexpensive items. Any thought to a lesser fee for items under $50? Does anyone know of a good free site to list these cheaper items? I'm also conserned that fewer sellers will lead to fewer buyers.
