|Hello folks,I'am an xc mtb racer, but please don't hold that against me.I need to spend more time on the road, & a spare bike to train on while MTB is infermed.I ride asphalt, dirt/gravel raods, toe paths,& TRY to keep up w/ roadies on training rides, though at a distinct gearing & aerodynamic disadvantage on my mtb.I also want to do some 100&150 mile charity rides & have a very limeted budget.I see great deals on tt bikes.Would a cyclocross bike work?.Comfort is insignificant, speed is everything! What should I buy?Should I buy used?HELP PLEASE|

|A time trial bike with steep angles and a short wheel base won't be very comfortable on long rides and bumpy roads. I know that comfort doesn't matter, but if you're on the road unsuspended long enough it will.
Cyclocross bikes do many things pretty well and changing tires can make them do most things quite well.
I'd recommend buying used from your lbs or looking for a good deal from GVH bikes.

|I agree with the other comment posted here . But from my stand point ,I understand where you are comming from. I think a good used Cyclecross bike would be good. But sincde you looking for some speed too. I would suggest that you look into a good road bike that would fit you limited budget. But one peice of advice.Make sure you get a road or cyclecross bike that would fit you.|| |
