Giro Eclipse - RocLoc 3 sturdy?MVN

I'm about to get a new road helmet and I'm looking at the Giro Eclipse and the Bell Phi Pro. I've read good things about Bells's GPS system, but what about the RocLoc 3? I had a Gila which had the RocLoc 2 and it was garbage. Won't stay glued in +90 temps., poor quality velcro. I ended up throwing it away. I've heard the RocLoc 3 is reliable. Any advice or opinions from those who use it? Thanks for your time.

Since most of the guys on this board are fast asleep right now, let me have a go. Although I do not use any helmets with a RocLoc 3, I have read in some websites that the glue of the RocLoc 3 comes off, especially during hot rides.

I have owned Specialized, Bell and Giro Helmets that all had this problem. The glue that holds the velcro is weak and melts and shifts in hot weather. I guess the styrofoam does not react well with most adhesives. I think the Specialized was the worst. It is annoying when you take off the helmet and you take a few hairs with you. I think someone may have posted a fix for this recently.

I do have an Exodus with the RocLoc 3. I test a by seeing how secure it feels without the straps hooked together. The RocLoc 3 holds it on comfortably without moving shen I shake my head upsidedown. I have a big head and I think their helmets fit me the best. I may buy a Stevilo too. It is about $40 has the RocLoc 3 and comes in an ugly green that matches my Surly Cross Check. It has only 2 or 3 fewer vents than my Exodus.

I currently have a Helios, roc loc 3. Eclipse must be it's replacement. On sale right now @ Colorado Cyclist for $70. The Helios was the best helmet I have owned. The glue in general used in helmets breaks down over time. Some people equate the heat to causing this. I believe sweat is the bigger culprit. The velcro that holds the sweat pads in place on ALL previous helmets has always failed. If you buy a tube of Goop, variety of uses and applications at a big box hardware store, reglue the velcro with it. Works well. I like the Giro helmets, fit well. Right now I am debating if I want to go with a 2000 model Boreas w roc loc 3, or the Eclipse and save the cache and get a nice jersey with the savings. $40 difference between the 2, same fit system, same safety specs.
