A local physician, Dr. John Whitaker, died today from injuries he sustained on a century ride in Tennessee this past weekend. http://www.al.com/news/birminghamnews/index.ssf?/xml/story.ssf/html_standard.xsl?/base/news/999162917458334.xml He was chairman of the Dept. of Neurology at UAB and an international authority on multiple sclerosis. I understand that no cars were involved in the accident and that it occured at the bottom of a very fast decent. I cannot find any details as to the cause of this accident. If anyone has any information please post it here. Needless to say, this is a great trajedy. be careful

It's always a total tragedy. But I can think of worse ways to die. We all going to die one day and if you look at it like that you could say you'd be lucky to die doing something as liberating as cycling.
