A quick glimpse of the Calfee tandem.MrCelloBoy

We did our first shakedown cruise yesterday on the Calfee Tetra Tetra. A mildly hilly 60 miler with a handful of fellow club members.
Some of the gears are still rubbing a little (tandem drivetrains are a little more finicky than half-bikes), but overall this tandem ROCKS!
Out of the saddle climbs were 100% easier than the Burley. The ride is oh-so-smooth! Carbon is awesome. Right now it feels like 53-12 is WAY bigger than needed. After a few more hard rides and some big downhills I might change my tune.
WE have another club ride this Sun. I'll report back.

That's the term tandem folks use...
Nothing derogatory meant!
The Calfee is gonna turn us into a lean mean "just-try-and-suck-our-wheel" machine.
At times on rolling terrain the half-bike term can feel quite relevant from both perspectives. ; )
With practice you should be able to fly up hills too.MB1

Do I understand it correctly that you went from a Burley to a Calfee. Big upgrade. Give yourselves time and lots of riding and you will become a local legend.
We're already legends...mrcelloboy

in our own minds...
Scot Nicol (AKA Chuck ibis) once gave me the nickname "Maury the man with the Story".
He subsequently put me on call blocking to avoid too many wasted production hours.

Yes, we dropped 15 lbs. in the upgrade. And that's with a SOLID pair of wheels, a couple of lead saddles (to be replaced with Terry Butterfly's) and the Look Ergostem.
We expect to drop a pound or so yet. Right now its at 31.5 lbs.
I'm losing a bit of my gut too!

Won't be long before you'll want that 56/11 gear. Just wait until you get into a paceline with another tandem. They rocket on mild downhills.

Let's hear about some top speed records...

to find the appropriate backdrop yet. We're too busy flying.
Give us a week or so.
