|Vredestein Fortezza Tri-Comp Durability?||Velocipedio|

|I have a set of Fortezza Tricomps, and I'm worrying about wear. I have about 1500 km [@900 miles] on them, and I notices some threads fraying from the sidewall. This has only ever happened to me with tires past 2000 miles.
Anyone else have this problem with these tires? How durable are thay, anyway?

|I don't know if the tri-comp is the same tread exactly as the standard Race one-color, but I have had great success with the single-color variation. 3000km on the rear (no flats) and 4000 (still going strong) on the front (again no flats). The tread seemed to wear well and be very cut-resistant, unlike some more expensive tires (Vittoria comes to mind). I would try the standard Race version next time, it is a few bucks cheaper anyway.|

|These tires last a long time. I've had several pairs of them. The fraying threads are the reason I quit using them. For some reason they start shedding threads on the sidewall after 800 or so miles. I found myself yanking them off all the time. Kind of annoying, but it didn't affect tire wear. In general, they're good tires except for the thread problem. |
You can find them at labicicletaa.com for $33/tire.

|I put the Vreds on my Trek in October of last year. The front has about 1200 miles and looks great. I wore the back out on my trainer and put a new Vred on last month. I guess I should have put it on the front, but my trainer (old mag type) wears them hard. I too had the thread problems, but it doesn't affect the wear.|| |
