Got kinda busy...SS? I assume you mean O.R. SS, Nah, I like lotsa gears, running 27 on my Zaskar, almost wish that I went with 24 when I built her, I'm due for a new cassette and 8 sp is a half the price of 9. Me and one of my buds "play" ss sometimes, put er in your favorite gear and rip, it usually does'nt last long though, always end up dropping down a cog or two on an uphill so that the chain does'nt snap. Shave legs and become an elitist? All you have to do around here to look like an "elite" cyclest is wear gloves!... let alone a skid lid and clipless. Anyhoo, Becky Sue would never let me live it (leg shaving) down, she complains about having to shave and if I did it to reduce ADC... YAP, YAP, YAP! Besides, round here...people would talk. I'm thinking bout building a roadie baaak when I finish my Joker (Ellsworth). Maybe I'l look into a celeste Bianche frame. BTW, I have a jacket that color! Enjoy S.M.E. this weekend, I'l be doing same in Hoosierville.
Take a beater and turn it into a SS. More fun than U can stand.MB1

That is if you can stand after riding up a few hills on a 1-speed.

Miss M and I have Zaskars too. Sure like those bikes, take a licking and keep on ticking. She has been on my case about wanting to ride them so we are going to do a dirt century tomorrow. We'll see about putting some poetry into motion for you.

Expand your horizons and get a Bianchi cyclocrosser. I ride it more than the Zaskar now; quite a challenge in the dirt but it flies like an eagle.
Hmmm...Got that old Mongoose....dirtbag

...hanging in the garage, what is a good F&R sproket combo to go with?
I Rode a friends Trek crosser, thats what's got me thinkin bout building a road bike, pretty cool the way it does'nt slow down when you stop peddling and not right away like an ATB w/2.1 knobbies.
Whats a dirt "century"? Duh!
Century=100 miles, Double Century=200 milesMB1

Triple Century-you don't want to know.

Dirt SS gearing is usually 2 to 1, for instance a 32 tooth chainring with a 16 tooth freewheel.
yep, thats what I figured...dirtbag

..on the gearing and the century thing. Wow 100 of dirt? We usually do about 25 miles on weekends but thats on technical singletrack kind of stuff, takes us about 4 hrs...if nothing breaks. Have fun!
