I'm looking for impressions on the LOOK 281 frame with HSC 2 fork. I like this frame more and more mostly because of its low profile, no hype industrial looks and the fact that there are several pro teams that make a living on them. If anyone has owns one or has tested please give me your impressions.

Step 1. stay up til 2 am everyday looking at bikes online

step 2. deciding on one

step 3. bugging the heck out of people who has the same bike (you know who you are)

step 4. change my mind

step 5. seek out a new bike (fuji team issue)

step 6. wait til that bike goes on sale

step 7. sold out

step 8. have a nervous fit

step 9. come back to the fist bike

step 10 order it

step 11. have another week long nervous fit til it arrives.

You'll be happier with it than the Fuji. Trust me. (Not that the Fuji's not a nice bike.)

I LOVE my KG281, and I've done a heap of research online and elsewhere, and have not found anyone with anything bad to say about 'em. And most pro teams (Credit Agricole, Big Mat, CSC, Kelme)sell their team frames at the end of the season, so anyone who claims they're throwaway frames is full of it.

Mine has the HSC 3 fork, which I hear is slightly more laterally stiff.

I had one (for a short time), it was nice. Magic carpet ride, super light-a climbing bike. Durability is a concern if you crash, same with any carbon frame, or aluminum. I personally like a livelier feel, but the frame handled nice.

I've gone through a bunch of bikes this last year and I'm MOST impressed with the KG281. Light, responsive, well engineered. Overall great ride! :) The most surprising thing about the bike is how lively it is. In comparison, the 5500 I rode was dreadfully boring ("dead") but the KG is really a pretty lively ride. Oh, my shortish ride on a C40 felt similar (albeit more muted than) the KG.

My only minor problem has been some creaks in the steerer tube and stem area. The steerer tube on the HSC2 is fairly flexy so it is prone to creaking. I 'think' I've fixed my creak problem by greasing the spacers and stem.

This frame would be ideal for medium to smallish riders (56cm size and down). Big bull Mooses (Cipo wannabes) would proabably "overpower" this frame.

YMMV
