|Greg Lemond and Viatel have split from John Wordin and Mercury, it seems like it may have been over not getting into the Tour de France.|

|I think the tour had a bit do with it, but more likely it has something to do with the lawsuit Fuji has brought against Mercury.|
|Yep, didn't think about that.||J.S.|

|I wonder if Mercury will be on Fuji bikes again?|

|Sounds like the American version of the Mapei/Domo break-up. I had heard that Viatel is in a real $$ crisis and could either be seeking bankruptcy or is in the process of it.

|I believe most of the money to fund the team is required up front by the UCI, to cover this kind of situation. Doesn't always work out that way, but it's supposed to.|

|The UCI doesn't have the greatest track record when it comes to overseeing the financial stability of the paying agent in charge of salaries. When riders don't get paid for the first time it's a warning sign that something is going real wrong. I'm so glad the Max Sciandri got a gig with Lampre.
Now I see why Kevin Livingston opted to go with Telekom at the last minute. He was destined to be the captain of a sinking shop.

|I'd say it is a combo of things. The main one has got to be the lawsuit filed by Fuji. I'd assume they are back on them, fo now at least. Not gettinginto the Tour could be a factor as well. |
Does this mean Viatel is out too? Or are they going to finish the year with the team, then go with LeMond? That's the more important part, I think.
