UCI proposed doping punishmentfredmark

Boy, this'll stop 'em:
1-6mo's for "light substances"
2 yrs for 2nd offense
2 yrs for "heavy substances"
4 yrs to life for 2nd offense
This is the UCI's "hard stance" proposal to finally address doping in professional cycling. This proposal verifies the complete lack of seriousness of the international governing body of this sport to truly address the issue. Doping in cycling is obviously as bad as anyone had imagined (just wait until the documented findings from the Giro are published), and they don't have the balls to propose that if you are caught once, with ANY prohibited substance - you're banned for LIFE. It would only take a couple of instances (represented by a couple of the brighter members of the peloton) to get caught, and the message would be truly delivered.
