New wheel/cassette problem(3 posts)

New wheel/cassette problemLionel
Jun 11, 2001 7:32 PM
I just received a new pair of wheels and installed an ultegra 12-23 cassette (that was my first time doing this). I am worried that I might have tighten the lockring too much as some cogs are noisy and tend to shift automatically (new chain too).

When I put my old wheel back no problem shifting...

Thanks
You could have a cassette spacing problem (different wheelbill

cassette goes on the new hub in just a little different place, meaning that you have to tweak your cable adjustors on your rear derailler). I encounter this with a Wheels Mfg. cassette on a Cane Creek vs. Chorus on a Ksyrium. Same Ultegra cassette for both wheelsets? How different are the wheels?
Less sure about this, but I wonder if your old cassette, being worn in, is more forgiving of an out of tune rear derailler?

One wheel uses Ultegra Hubs, the Other (XAero) uses Edco hubs.
