Three American riders, 1,2,3. And with top European competitors involved. The state of U.S.(and hopefully North American) cycling is looking up. Although Hincapie has to be disappointed, both he and Rodriguez have the potential on the right teams to become major threats in the classics.

I'd say that Hincapie has arrived as a classics rider with his win at Gent Welvegem, and his usual brilliant performances on the pave at Robaix. Freddy is a great sprinter. He'll get his wins too.

Right now Fred's on a better team with respect to one-day race support. Postal has reportedly made promises to George. I hope they keep them. On a team like Domo, for instance, GH would have the potential for greatness. What's really encouraging is that the North American scene is producing guys of this calibre with lots more coming on, e.g. Klasna, Matt White, Tony Cruz, Gord Fraser, etc.
