Who else wants the "View All" option back?(13 posts)

Who else wants the "View All" option back?DT

...without having to click on the printer friendly version to be able to view all replies at once...

I would like to see the view all feature again. I know you can see all of the thread with the printer friendly link, but it is still an extra page to have to download. On a slow connection that can really add a lot of time. Even a link to the printer friendly version next to each thread on the main page would be great.
to me, other things are far more importantET

I find it interesting that some of you seem to have what could be termed a "hangup" about this view-all thing (especially given that you have a close second with the printer-friendly version) and yet don't seem to be bothered by other things. Besides loads of quirks I won't go into now (the latest being that the original poster's post title appearing above while I'm typing in this post shows ""e" instead of the symbols for quotes actually used), there are two in particular bothering me much more than view-all:

1) My computer keeps loading older versions of this forum when I revisit or depending on how I return to the forum, and, most important,

2) There is no default to throw the hottest thread back up to the top. While there is the "latest response" thing, someone just returning from the weekend won't even see that thread, now long off the screen, unless clicking on it, and others who have comments 3 days later won't be observed. I think this is taking away from that great community feeling we had here of delving deeply into hot topics. Our very existence is being threatened. By contrast, view-all replaced by printer friendly is, IMHO, close enough, epsecially since I'm often hesistant to use either because it's hard to tell who's replying to whom and the link colors don't change without clicking (making it harder to tell if there was a new post later).

Anyone agree with me about this forum's feel not being the same without hottest topics thrown automatically to the top?
I'm with you, though I do dig View Allnigel

I'd like to have it back the way it was (or as closely as possible), since it was very easy to get around and get heard/read that way. Keeping the hottest stuff and most recent additions up top is, to me, absolutely the best way to do it.

Hot-Topic return to top was great, too...DT

I agree...i honestly hadn't visited this new forum enough (because of lack of familiarity with it) to notice that...
The View All would be a nice feature.Maui

Not only would I like to have "view all" back, but also the ability to respond to someone within the thread without having to go back one page and hunt for the author of the message I wish to repond to.

I have not seen any improvements with this current system over the previous one; only degradations. Sorry. Hope it improves soon or I'll bet alot of old time users will be looking for another forum.

I've asked Gregg already about this...nigel

I found the View All option to be far more user-friendly and encouraging for respondents. It also created more of a "community" feel, since you could easily scroll through the various responses and replies within replies.

If possible, I definitely want it back. Saves time, mouse clicks, and makes it much easier to see who's saying what.

Count me in!
Wasn't aware of the printer-friendly version. It works!nigel

It's basically the same as the old View All. Very nice. I didn't know to look for it, since I was used to clicking View All on the old board.

I'm happy now.

I don't really like much about the new or old version of the board. I prefer the format provided by UBB boards. I even prefer EZboard over this format.
