chainring replacement question...(4 posts)

chainring replacement question...Abadamus

Currently I ride a triple, and I am wondering if when the 52 teeth chainring wears out, can it be replaced with a 53 teeth chainring (I'm just curious - I realize one tooth only adds a couple of inches anyhow). Thanks

though it is technically limited by the maximum range of the front derailleur; practically, even if the combo turned out to be 'illegal', it's not going to matter at all in the real world

As long as you have the correct bolt pattern ring and the clearance of the derail is correct, it should work.

It will probably go on there OK but you may lose some shifting performance. Those triple rings come as a matched set.
