|I have a Cannodale bike, bought around 1990. Its a red, white and silver trim road bike, CAAD3 frame. Does anyone know what model this might be?|

|If it was bought in 1990, it's not a CAAD3 (maybe an R3.0). CAAD3 frames are characterized by their "Power Pyramid" downtubes and rear stays that meet at the rear dropout. The R2.8 (immediate predecessor of the CAAD series) has the swagged downtube, but the rear stays are cantilevered.
Cannondale generally encodes the model, color and year of production in the serial #. A Cannondale dealer or a message at http://www.cannondale.com/company/contact.html/ could give you more info.
Be the bike.

|Cannondale basically used/uses the same frame but varied the components. Akirasho is correct, it can't be a CAAD3 in 1990. What are the components?|

|I took Akirasho's advice a while back and contacted C/dale about the '89 Shimano 600 equiped bike given me by my brother. Mine is C/dale blue with oversized tubes and short chainstays. There's a serial number around the bottom bracket that encodes the information. C/dale was very prompt in responding and very helpful. Incidently, this bike turned out to be a blast to ride. It accelerates like crazy and steers like a fighter plane. Good luck.|| |
