Spinergy SR-3? Likes or Dislikes?Like2bike

Sorry for posting this here but there is no product review on these wheels. I am considering getting a set of these wheels and I was just curious what people thought of them if they have a set. They will be replaceing my Mavic cosmic first generation wheels.

These wheels have a VERY high failure rate if you talk to people in the industry. I had two hub failures before Supergo bought them back from me. The customer service from Spinergy was absolutly horrible. After five weeks of having my rear wheel for warranty work, they still wouldn't say when they would be returning it. Took one of the higher up's at Supergo to call and rant before it came back. Then it failed again one week later. Other than that it was a nice wheelset. Ha!

What happened to you hubs exactly? I bought a set of SR-3's recently off of EBAY to replace the stock CXP-21s with Ritchey hubs that came with the bike. I have heard both good and bad things about the Spinergy brand but the price was too good to resist. So far the wheels are great but I only have about 250 miles on them. A better evaluation will be after I've had them for 6 months to a year.

Yes, I was wondering the same thing because Ive got a chance to buy a set of SR-3s for $250 and I dont have alot to spend. Was your problem bearing or freehub related?

Well, the first time, at 1200 miles, they left me stranded about twelve miles from home on a solo ride. I would spin the cranks and the cassette wouldn't lock up with the hub. Like the pawls broke or something but when I took them in for the warranty Supergo said "this has been happening, it isn't the pawls but the freehub and Spinergy allready has a better part for it." Then after almost a month and a half, I get them back and less than a week later it sounds like bits and pieces of metal and sand have dissentegrated inside the hub and I could feel it rather dramatacally when I would spin the wheel on a stand or get on and pedal. I took it back to Supergo and demanded a new wheelset or a refund, I got the refund. I posted this on this board (the componets side) and many others chimed in with a simular experience. I have had two other sets of Spinergy wheelset, both SPOX's and they both had hub problems with very few miles on them. I would not buy anything again from them. The warranty service was a nightmare on all three sets!

I'm tempted to call them "crap", but that really gets some people spun up around here so I'll use the word "junk" instead. Give careful consideration to any outfit that claims to have the "best ever" product every 6 to 12 mos. with designs that are all radically different from each other. Stack that up against their reliability and customer service problems and you've got a real winner. Who knows, maybe the SR-3's really are the best wheels ever, at least until next year's model comes out.

I have a set of Rev-X ('00) with hubs that seem to be in one piece (probably about 3k miles - but its not the same hub as SR-3 and I use these mostly to race thus they do not see really evil weather so take it for what ever its worth)
Now so far as customer service goes - Spinergy SUCKS!!!!! If you buy their products do it via a good LBS who will back you up (this is where its nice to have a Supergo behind you).
