|A week ago we were talking about a 3 mile TT. I had said we
have them here every Thursday. The best time to date was a 7:56
on my GT track bike. (this was my only road bike for about 3 months).
Today we did the TT thing. I did about 2 hours offroad in the am on
my single speed mountain bike. At 6pm 3 of us went out, all tired,
but we just wanted to have more some fun. I was the only one to ride.
Layout, 3 mile out and back. 50 foot of elevation gain each way with
a little turn around at the halfway point.
Temp at 6pm, 89 deg.
Heat index 100 deg.
Winds south at 10 to 15
On the track bike, 20 pounds. 42x16 freewheel with 165 cranks and
only a front brake, best time of 7:56
On the new Colnago Master X Lite 19.5 pounds with gears and 172 cranks
new best time of 7:08!!!!
I don't know how fast this is, but it much better than my old time,
and since i did in my buddy's best time of 7:34. I get Hooters Wings

I'm still looking for a good place to try this 3 mile run myself. I'm shooting for sub 8:00 but can't claim it yet. ;)

|Congrats! 7:05 is fast. Try it rested and I bet you can break 7:00 easy. The leg speed gained from the track bike has to help. Go double on the wings!|

|On my first ever 3 mile TT, I did a 7:36 last week. The problem, like you guys, is finding a relatively flat, traffic free 3 mile stretch. I had to do an out and back also with three nasty little hills. But a 7:08...whoa!! Now I have a number to really shoot for during my training rides. If the weather is nice tomorrow, I'm gonna try again at lunch.
By the way...aren't Colnago's nice???? I love mine.

|Keep up the hard work and it will pay off in the end. I do a 5K (3.1mile) TT every three weeks as a fitness test. Over the summer my time has decreased from 7:11 in May to a 6:34 yesterday. My goal is to break 6:30 in September.
PS-All out 1/2mile intervals with a 1/2mile recovery 5-10 times once a week really help with short TT speed.

|3 mile TT last week. I am very impressed with all of you guys and I now have some really good times to shoot for. I am glad people have found this little TT interesting. I guess it is good because it can be done quickly. I should be able to get it to 7:30 but some of you guys are very fast. We should all post our times regularly to see how we improve and stack up. To BC, you're awesome little man!|
