What to do about the ridiculous helmet vent sunburn/tan? Bike hats are too hot. Hanky doo-rag? Is there any kind of wicking material doo-rag? Don't wanna look like a Deep Space 9 alien anymore. Thanks.

BTW sunscreen still leaves the tan and is kinda nasty on the head, esp. with the few remaining surviving folicles.

One of the perils of losing your hair. Some of the better "do-rags" are made of wicking fabric as used in the better jerseys, but they aren't cheap -- around $20. I've started wearing cycling caps now on longer rides because my scalp was getting burned and peeling. Caps also help soak up some of the sweat. They don't seem to make me any hotter, but your experience might be different.

Worth every penny. Coolmax terrycloth elastic sweatband with a coolmax do-rag sewn on top.

I'm mostly bald ans sweat prodigiously, yet one of these babies not only keeps every drop out of my eyes, but I swear my head feels cooler on a hot day under my helmet than when I just wear a sweatband.

And they dry out quickly. Shop around, they're usually on sale somewhere, but even at full price they're a bargain -- as is anything that works this well.

I agree with Rich with one caveat: Make sure you get the Coolmax version, not the cotton. For my head, the cotton just didn't work. The Coolmax is incredible.
And here's a tip: When you're on a club or training ride and you stop at a convenient mart for a break, throw the Headsweat in the outdoor ice bag/block chest. When you're ready to go, you've got a cooler head for a least a couple of miles.

Headsweats sells a caps and banadana made of coolmax, Santini has a coolmax bandana. Performance and or Nashbar sells both, I have both and have been wearing the Santini ones lately but think the helmet fits better with the caps than the banadana ( no knot to fool with) and the Santini has a built in headband. Kind of expensive 2@$24?

I have two or three different helmets that I use. The different air vent patterns sort of equalize the tanning effect across my head.

I'm bald enough now that it's not a problem for me anymore, but there are few things more painful than trying to comb your hair when you have a sunburned scalp.

Actually I find the regular cotton doo-rag pretty functional. They're so thin that the sweat dries pretty quick anyway. You can carry two if it gets out of hand. What do they cost anyway? 2 bucks? This is what I do in HUMID, HOT NYC and works pretty good.
