|I just went for my first ride on my new Trek 1000 and I'm wondering why I didn't get into road riding sooner. It was great! I got it yesterday but wasn't able to ride because of other obligations. It was more fun than what I remember from my teenage years. Now I gotta find a club to join!
May your rides be long and the miles fly by!

|Congrats on your new ride, my wife just bought the same bike yesterday as well and we took it on its break in ride today. She had never ridden road before either and she loves it. Seems like a very good bike to start with. Enjoy. |

|Congratulations. My GF just bought a GT ZR-3.0. We only had time for a short, 20km ride on Thursday, but she's already ecstatic. Gonna go far today!|

|to me, the switch 10 years ago from an fairly active regiment of hiking, running, backpacking, and even skiing was... yowza!!! Speed!!! |
Congrats. I think the Trek 1000 is a very pretty great option at a good price. Some folks on this and other boards may snub anything that doesn't have 105 or better components, or didn't run $1500 or more, but just getting into the joy of the sport is great. You can make your own decisions in a few years, and you've got that red, white & blue USPS-inspired paint job on the Trek 1000... that alone I think is one of the nicest options in the price point.
