I have an aluminum frame with a aluminum set back Thompson Elite seat post. Looking to go to a carbon fiber seat post for a little smoother ride. Can anyone recommend a set back carbon post?

Take a look at the LOOK carbon post. Very spendy!

You can get the Look ergo 3 @ http://www.totalcycling.com for a lot less than the states (about $120 as opposed to $190.)

I've seen quite a few recommendations for totalcycling.com recently, but something that fails to be mentioned is the lack of warranty. There is no USA warranty for Look items bought through totalcycling.com. I know there is a good amount of savings to be had, but if something were to go wrong, I hope you speak French because you will have to deal with Look in France.

I heard Hurricane is making one with 3/4" of set back. I saw one on the owner Jeff's bike. It looks and as he said rides real nice.

don't expect much ride improvement...C-40

Those who have posted ride improvements from carbon seat posts have vivid imaginations. You'll spend a lot of money and be disappointed.

Maybe a saddle with a little more padding or shock absorbing rail and shell construction should be considered.
