As I said back in the earlier post, I tried a 3mi TT to see how I compared against the 8 min goal. Well, I measured off a 3mi course on a warm up ride, came back and got psyched up to break the target time. My son rode behind me to try his own TT. We took off, trying to stay just below LT, zipping along pretty good. I come around a bend in the road and, shoot, some bulldozer carrying truck has the road completely blocked while they load equipment on. I slow down, ticked at what it is doing to my time and then see a clearing in the grass on the right. I dive off the road into the grass, zip on by while the men working stare at me like I'm out of my mind. Well, I only managed an 8:45 3mi TT. I was disappointed but it ought to be easy to improve upon. I do have a question for those of you who are more experienced at TT'ing. Is it best to maintain a constant effort at or slightly above LT, or can it be better to slightly pulse above for awhile, recover slightly below for awhile, etc. and then max. effort at the end. Would love to hear what stategies are used by you all.
