I think all of this talk about Armstrong and drugs is pure crap. So what if he was on some performance enhancing drugs. I can tell you if I were strapped into a big ole rocket and shot off into space I would want to be at the top of my game. Up there, any mistake can kill you just ask Gus Grisham. These guys deal with a lot of stress and if they they think they need drugs to be alert then so be it. Then there was the whole walking on the moon thing.....what?.....Lance Armstrong?...who's he?......a bicycle?....France?.......oops nevermind.

The riders who use banned substances on the pro circuit are not doing it for stress relief. Rather they are trying to enhance their physical performance and gain any advantage possible to be competitive. Yes, stress is a factor, but drug use for stress management is not a factor.

I agree that accusations of LA using banned substances is certainly unwarranted unless he has a test come back positive. This has not happened, and he should be left alone. Unfortunately, "innocent until proven guilty" is not the way of professional cycling.

Please re-read the post. It was a joke! I wasn't even talking about Lance Armstrong. Lighten up please. It was a feeble attempt to add some levity to this overdone subject.

By the way, Gus Grissom didn't die "up there." He (and Ed White and Roger Chaffee) was killed on the ground when the capsule caught fire. It was a pad test--they had no plans to launch the rocket that day.

I am perfectly aware of how Grissom died. He was the only one I could think of at the time. How about Christa McAuliff? Is that better. Gee people, this was supposed to be a joke, all be it a bad one. Sorry about trying to laugh about something.

So true I could have. I remember seeing his grave at Punchbowl. I was not intending to dishonor anyone but was poking fun at the endless speculation about LA and drugs.
