hey fellas, just wondering which bike is considered to be stiffer, lighter and a better climber the trek 5500 or the caad 5/6. I am considering one or the other to purchase and have narrowed it down to those 2. I am looking for the best climber of the 2.

Do we really have to do this :-)Mike K

Well, the Trek seems to climb pretty well with LA on board and my CAAD climbs not so well with me on board but I'm sure that in both cases "its not about the bike."
Both bikes are stiff and light and should climb very well. I think that which ever fits you best will climb best for you.
Climbing (at least for me) is like a personal torture chamber - pain over time and space - the less pain the bike adds the faster I climb.

The Trek is slightly lighter and more expensive, but both bikes climb really well. I test road both, and I used to own a Cannondale, and I could honesty not give a preference for climbing ability. They both have strong chain stays which is what you want for climbing. When ever I think of a mass production bike that is good for climbing these are the two that come to mind.

Both great bikes. Test ride both on a long hill & trust the feeling.
