How many miles shoud one of these be servicable for? What are the signs that it will soon need to be replaced?

any play when you yank on the cranks with your hand, or any roughness when you spin the spindle with the cranks removed, are indicators the bearings are starting to go. Cartridge bearings, right? You know you can service them by popping off the seals with a knifeblade or needle and regreasing after cleaning then, right? Greasing won't eliminate any lateral play that developed, however. Mileage is meaningless; is it ridden by a 100-lb. woman on dry roads, or by Marty Nothstein training in the rain?

Thanks! It is a cartrige bearing BB. They are rough when turning, but no play. I guess I should pull it and de&re-grease.
