Can a fellow sufferrer of bilateral heel or someone with the knowledge on the subject,(not plantar fasciitis) please point me to some form of resolution. I've been a runner for 20 years, and have had some archilles problems. But since I picked up tri-sport the start of this year, I've had pain in the heels in the morning, dissipating with activity. Ice and ibuprofen and stretch regularly. Can someone suggest some bike positioning suggestions or heel placement advice. Thanks
Have you tried taping bottom of foot or orthodicswink

I am suffering right now from planta fasciitis and found by taping my foot laterally really helps in pain reduction. Maybe it could work for you as well. Also I ordered those crazy Phase 4 orthodics from TV. I am trying everything. Good Luck

If the pain is only when you put weight on the heel, it could be that you have damaged the spongy tissue of the heel. This spongy tissue prevents pain when walking. The cure is a heel cup (hard, not soft) that will hold the spongy tissue together so that it can work as it is susposed to instead of "squishing" out and allowing pain. Be forewarned, I am not a doctor, this is just free internet advice.

I have bursitis in my right heel which stems from an old running injury. I wear orthotics in just about all my shoes, including cycling. For one thing, they provide support, as I have high rigid arches, and secondly, they change the position of my foot so I am not pressing the sensitive area into my shoe. I've had two prescription orthotics made for me, but the ones that work the best are flexible plastic, over-the-counter, made by Superfeet. More or less they are just glorified arch supports. They work for me, but they won't work for everyone. It might be an inexpensive way to start. You also might consider over-the-counter Dr Scholls, the leather type with foam backing. You might need a combination of support and shoe selection.
Above all: if things don't get better, seek medical advice.
