|Really a continuation of the "aluminum vs. ???" thread below.
I'm wondering if anyone has a good hyperlink or info on the following:
1) what's the difference in quality between the major aluminum manufacturers (columbus, easton, dedaccai (sp?))?
2) assuming the same tube shape, what are the major differences in grades of aluminum tubing (7003, 7005, etc) and since manufacturers are not using the # system all the time, what do things like "Altec 2 plus" and "Columbus Airplane" mean?
3) If I had a choice, do I want to go for a "tuned" tubeset that might be ovalized at the BB and headtube, "tear-drop" shaped tubes, big fat c-dale tubes, or maybe a better tubeset of higher grade aluminum even if it is pure round tubes?
4) How do you compare stuff like Pinarello and Bianchi who have the tubes custom drawn for them?
BTW - this message board has been great. I've learned a lot from you guys lately.
