Ugly Airborne Zep Dilemabear

OK I love my Zep, it has ultegra/ DURA, she rides like a dream but GOD ITS SO UGLY, I would like to remove the decals and install something new, some generic decals, where can I fine something like this? Any other Ideas? I know a Pinarello paris is going to solve all my problems but I will keep my Zep around , but it nedds a FACE LIFT. I guess if I paint it it would add too much weight and it will cost some, so I am hoping maybe to just change the decals,

Well, I painted mine and it is somewhere far back in the gallery section and I really could care less than the tiny amount of weight that it added. There are any number of places that paint bikes that can fabricate decals for you depending upon what you want to put on it. And if the frame is a 2001, the decals on it are put on (supposedly) to stay. When in doubt, add color.
Sorry, but this is just too tempting...Go Huffy!

Paint it RED: With a big yellow star on the headtube!
And make sure to go to Wal-Mart and get some Huffy stickers for the down tube.

Gotta hate it when people living under a Communist government start to gain experience and success at capitalism and free trade. All while producing a solid, high-tech product which is available worldwide using that little thing called the Internet.

Also gotta hate it when American entrepeneurs start up a little company, gain success and market share, then sell out to a larger American enterprise while retaining creative control of the expanding product line and continuing their success.

This is capitalism on the planet Earth in the year 2001. You should be happy to see free trade and prosperity everywhere in the world. On what planet do you live, and what form of economic system do you endorse? Did you barter some potatoes and cod fish for your politically acceptable bike?

that's rich...the zep isn't really all that light anyway so why would a few ounces of paint make much of a diff. paint it!
The weight of my Zep is 17.5 lbs.LWL

and that is with the Speedplays. I would say its fairly light. How much does your bike weigh?

but that's not the point really. i also ride a steel 62cm bike and even my previous Merlin XL with Chorus was about 19 lbs complete. i was just saying that for a TI bike that the Zep isn't particularly light. What size is your 17.5 bike and how did you weigh it? Seems a bit on the light side considering that Airborne's website reports a full DA equipped Zep with speedplay x-1 pedals at 17.78lbs...and that's for the 43cm frame. Add more weight if yours is larger. I messed with the parts pick and got the same size frame to 16.99 lbs but that was all superlight stuff (Nucleons, CK headset, superlight tires and tubes etc.) also probably didn't include the weight of the speedplay cleats, cages, and other stuff you usually carry with you riding. The bike was also up to $3200 by that point.
You are correct!LWL

Paint is only a few ounces. I just wanted to let you know that a Zep can be a light bike. When I ordered mine the Web site reported a weight of 17.33lbs. I have a 56cm, DA, Open Pro wheels, Axial pro tires, Selle Italia Century saddle, CK headset, Speedplay X-2 pedals, ITM 225 bars, Ritchey stem, and the pound saver, Ouzo Pro forks.
I paid $2564, but that was over a year and six months ago.
I used a Dr. scale with the slide weight and it was about 17.5. With cages, pump, spare tire, CPR tool, 1 tire iron plus bag it is a little over 18lbs. As you know bike weight #s are without pedals. When most people pick up my bike they say, WOW, thats light!
I think the guy should paint his bike, I don't care for the new beed blasted finish on the 2000, 01 Zep, I have the 99 model its brushed.
Thanks, LWL
