I can get a 2001 silkroad 600 for $950 on sale. i'm not sure i'll like the shock on a road bike. can i put a regular fork on it if i don't like the headshock?

...nobody's asking. A headshok would be cool on a cross bike, but kinda silly on pavement, doncha think? It's another example of Cannondale having technology and not quite knowing the market for it. "Hey, we figured out how to make a one-sided fork and hub system, let's sell some and see how long they last." I'm betting about 4 years before they all start coming back to haunt them. And nobody makes a compatible hub except Cannondale, that's way bogus. Besides, why support a company whose major focus these days is developing motorcycles and ATVs? I'd rather support died-in-the-wool bikie companies that put furthering cycling above expanding their income potential.
To answer your question: You can't swap for a rigid fork without a lot of hassle, expense, and difficulty -- if at all, not even sure anyone makes a race adaptor for it, but maybe -- and then you'd have a road bike with a funky looking bloated head tube. Well, I guess it would go with the rest of the funky looking, bloated tubes.

too much so. Don't bother. And by the time you've done the swap, you've got like $1200 in the thing... you can do better than a modified SR for that money.
always go with what fits.... (nm)Mike K

I think you get more bike for $$$, crisp handling and slitely cusshier ride due to carbon seatpost/fork but can't disagree with Mike, go with fit

also look @ flipping/swapping stem on Giant, spacers

Am I the only buyer who is getting screwed by Giant in the fork recall? When my full carbon fork was returned under recall (warranty)Giant has thus far opted only to replace it with a fork with an alloy steer tube and not a fork of comparable value. In talking to the Giant warranty department I was told that (1. It is thier option to replace my fork with whatever they see fit. (2. The CPSC forced them to replace the full carbon fork with a lesser value product. (3.That the full carbon fork is no longer offered with the ONCE frameset, and if I didn't like that, (4. To talk with thier attorney.
I have checked thier website and they are still advertising the fork as full carbon. I am truly shocked by the way I have been treated by a company the depends on consumer loyalty. If there are others who have been sold one thing - but delivered another - please respond
What is with that?
