It seems that over 500 people contacted Mr. Cook and or the editor ref. the article on Lance. At least they had the nerve to print a few of the letters. You have got to check this out. RIDE ON

Got a stock response back from the editor. Most of you probably got the same letter. I understood perfectly well that he was "trying" to be humerous. The only problem was that it was not funny; it was offensive. I found especially offensive his statement that the only reason anyone really cared was that Lance was recovering from cancer. Also the general tone that what Lance accomplished was no big deal any shmuck could do it.

I actully have a sense of humor. Jeff Foxworthy does a bit about French cyclists coming down to "Deliverence Country" It's hilarious. But there is a fine line between being satirical and being mean spirited. Dennis Miller can pull it off this guy can't. It comes down to talent Lance and Dennis have it he doesn't. The direct link is

I got the same stock response with all kind of justifications and defenses. However, their "tongue-in-cheek" is so mean-spirited and disgenuine that it turns my stomach that that people listen to this guy. the song says:

"...and that's what I love about the South..."
The Post Herald should send him up12x23

Mt. Cheaha with a 12x23 . . and explain to him he'd have to ride this mountain 4-5 times and throw in 90 or so miles to approximate a lesser Tour climbing stage. I do hope he takes up the invitation to ride with the locals. You guys at Cahaba Cycles need to put the hurt on him.

Yeah, got the response from the editor as well... with all the "here's what we've done for cycling" things added in.

The guy either still needs a lesson in humor writing or a lesson in the butt-whippin' he'll recieve on a bike.

At least the editor took a few moments to reply, rather than blowig us all off.
