Shoes for road and trail(2 posts)

Shoes for road and trailhwy45

I use Mtn bike shoes for both road and trail and I'm looking to replace my old shoes. I would appreciate any recommendations on a shoe that both jobs well. Do others do the same? What do you use? How are they for comfort and stiffness? I just need one pair of shoes for my fitness and recreational and family riding. I also prefer the walk around ability. Thanks

I use a mt bike shoe for road touring because I need to be able to walk quite a bit in the shoe, and love the recessed cleat.

Diadora makes several models that are good for the purpose, because they have a recessed cleat (assuming you're riding spd or speedplay frogs...) but only a modest tread. Some of the mtb shoes have a monster tread and weigh too much. I'd check Diadora for this mixed-use purpose.
