|I just read i in the news:

|... I read about it first on the MTBReview Singlespeed website, and also at schwinn.com.
But, then again, I've been thru it before. The paint was barely dry on my cruiser when Schwinn started having terminal labor trouble, in the 70's. They died then. The reborn company may have kept a few similar-looking cruisers in the lineup, but little else was the same. What Huffy got was a fine old name attached to a company with little to do with the one that made Kaptain Kangaroo say "Schwinn bikes, the quality bikes, are best!"
Mine's Chicago-built, and I'll never part with it.

|First, that's old news (July 17). Second, it's not really accurate. Questor refused Huffy's offer, and instead filed for bankruptcy, so it will go to a judge to determine who will come out with the company and how much each of the creditors get. Things get interesting now. Huffy is the largest bid on the table, but there are other players waiting for the auction before showing their cards. This is exactly what happened when Questor bought the company a few years ago- they came in at the last minute with a slightly better bid. Huffy is not in a spectacular cash position, and I don't think they could afford to go much higher than the $60m they've offered- others out there may be able to trump Huffy.|| |
